QUOTE (Conro @ Apr 16 2011, 05:01 PM) I kinda say she is the reason the game is the way it is.
No conflict. Police state. Boring.
Sorry, but to me that's her legacy. Sad but true. I'm sure she was kind to her friends, and as a person I'm sure she's missed. She's a part of all our nexus-addict lives. Most people who were here for nexus's beginnings were young kids then and she was a woman in her 50's. It's no wonder she was able to control so much of the nexus community. I have a million reasons to be glad to see her leave nexus, but not life. I cant say I have fond memories of her but Tip came through for me a few times and I'm sorry for their family's loss. I hope they look back on their time on nexus fondly, even if the community has mixed feelings.

I'll be honest. I didn't know her all too well... but I find it pathetic that people automatically switch from hating her to liking her just because she's dead.
So yes, I agree with Musoyan 100% on that.

QUOTE (Cirran @ Apr 20 2011, 02:44 PM) This is why so many people in her path's thoughts on her are in such stark contrast to everyone else. I also think it's very interesting that in Diviner she was so loved, while in the rest of the community she's (please forgive me) hated by most. Part of that I'm sure is that she really came through for the Diviners. They are by far the best equipped mage subpath. The roleplay is lax on walkers and she was a very accessible elder. If I were a Diviner I would appreciate all that she had done for me... but i'm not. The memories I have of her are all the ideas for the rest of nexus she stonewalled, and the cold attitude she had for anyone who ended up at odds with her. I sort of remember her in the same light as WorldWalker. While we were all kids playing at nexus and enjoying ourselves, she saw the game as a place to run, whether we liked it or not. I blame her for a lot of what's wrong with the subpath community, which should and could have been the real backbone to the nexus community. It's all over now nexus is dead, but maybe it would have lasted if we didn't have people like Sarina keeping any real change down.

I think a lot of subpaths would be in the same boat if they had half the amount of pull as she did. I'm not trying to speak ill of her, but I don't think anyone can deny she had pull from KRU. It's unfortunate that KRU wasn't equal with all subpaths, but that's just part of what Nexus is. It's been an issue forever, and it will never change. -Brant

I knew she served, but I had no idea how long ago! God I wish I had known that... she wished me luck and told me briefly she was a Marine as well when I enlisted, but she didn't talk much about it when I asked her. I would have pestered her even more! Not gonna lie, it made me respect her a bit more knowing that.
I know we all had our ups and downs with her, and I'd be lying if I said I always believed she was doing the right thing and agreed with her methods... but you all have to admit, even if many people say she's to blame for Nexus being "stagnant", she's also probably largely responsible for how long Nexus has been around. Not many others would have had nearly as much patience to practically run the game as she did, "unofficially", for so long. It may have been just because at her age she had the time to dedicate, but in a way she kept things interesting. Everyone secretly loved the drama in this game, as it gave us something to do even when it enraged us.
So, I thank her for helping to keep this game going this long and sharing the last years of her life with us. May she now rest..

Sarina was an amazing player, and contributed more to this game than -ANY- one of us have ever even imagined of attaining. In comparison to Sarina, we are very insignificant. She devoted countless hours and time to what we see today. With someone with such authority and tenure, she was bound to have enemies, I mean even the most meaningless of players have their friends and their enemies.
But this is besides the fact. Sarina was not hot-headed, and if you got to actually know her, you'd realize how fair and understanding she was, and really did want nothing more than to please everyone she could. She did what every good leader does, took into account both sides of the story and tried her best to compromise. You can not please everyone, ever, but boy did she try.
Some of you have said some words I'm shocked to have heard, but really, Sarina won. She won, because all those people out there, regardless of the attention they are giving, are doing just that, giving her attention. Bad or good, the one thing that sets Sarina apart from the rest, is that she will be talked about and remembered forever.
In the hearts of the good, and in the hearts of the damned.
Sarina you will live on amongst us all.
Rest in peace, my friend.

QUOTE (Voyce @ Apr 23 2011, 07:24 PM) Sarina was an amazing Lady, I suppose I was one of the few who got to know her beyond her positions of authority. All I can say is that she was a very fair Lady in her decisions and I know that she would ignore the emotional response to things in favour of the logical. I remember a number of problems the two of us had but we always talked through them and to be honest, in the end she was correct. It generally ended up with me admitting that I was being overly emotional.
She wasn't perfect - none of us are. I remember that while I sometimes disagreed with her, she never turned against me, she respected my difference of opinion and took it on board. (Which is more than I could say for a lot of elders these days.)
Sarina will remain one of the few people I remember when I finally abandon TK. Sarina taught me to stand up for what I believe in, even if it isn't popular. I saw her suffer under the abuse of numerous people and she refuse to report them to the justice department because she felt it would prove nothing.
In 6 years of knowing The Lady. I never saw her act maliciously. No matter what the problem was, she would consider it from all angles before acting.
Sarina was one of the best friends I've had in TK and I'll miss her constantly.
P.S. Newsox has summed up my opinion of more than a few of you. That was a fantastic post. Thank you for sharing this with us, Voyce.

In game memorials always remind me of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHJVolaC8pwSorry but the troll in me would die to be able to do that.

So are you saying if there was a in-game memorial for Sarina you'd go and bust it up if you still played?
