What given benefits are there for allowing free-to-play until 98?? Real NexusTK BEGINS at 99... The only possible benefit to this is that it actually starts the conversation; but this really doesn't solve any of the dilemmas or address the declining population. I really just don't understand.

Who is this, Gerdi?

Oh, Gerdi? Why, none other than Gorgax Thomsun Euthaniel Goldstein Sudeki III.

Sure, some would say that Gorgax completely revolutionized Nexus PK. I guess a lot of people would say that. He's essentially been -THE- PK celebrity since Yuri 50. The names "Kiana" and "Lust" and "CalmWind" crumble to dust in their antiquity when mentioned in the same sentence as Gorgax. Hillary Clinton allegedly called him "The gold standard' of poet pking. Gorgax has also been a frequent warrior of social injustice; he has a long history standing up for what is right and what is true. He believes that it should be your god given right to make exclaims such as "This makes me want to club baby seals", and he'll go toe-to-toe with the rock (Not Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The justice rock. But if Dwayne Johnson wants to get it, he ain't gonna back down like a [Content removed]) to fight for that right.

Of course, with this intense fame comes obsessive fans and a black book full of lovers. Many tried snagging Buya's Most Eligible Bachelor -- (SpectrumBoy, Destine, Biofo, aDoom, Syncopate, Ruairidh, among many others), however, they just couldn't hold the interest of Barbara Walters' most fascinating person of 2014, 2015 and 2016.

These days 'ol Gorgax has been temporary crippled by excruciating bandwidth, and he has been relegated to hosting carnies on the sidelines rather than participating in them. Many have mistaken this hiatus to be the end for him. They will regret their lack of faith. Legend has it that Gorgax has been training fervently in Asmodi10 (he is frequently spammed by Valandil, Eggs, Shans, ShinI, Fatboy, Toxa, and more to hunt) to prepare for his legendary return.

There's a reason no other game (that I can think of at least) has time-based trials -- because they understand how stupid and limiting it is for their player base. Currently, with the caves and items at your disposal, it's possible to obtain Sam stats in a month at a reasonable pace. There are some players who are able to grind it out in a couple of weeks. So what's the point of making players wait for a mark that is largely disappointing.

I don't need someone to tell me how I should spend time on a game that I pay a monthly subscription for. There are certainly ways Kru could ENCOURAGE doing that by effectively incentivizing those aspects of the game. However, some people aren't drawn to RP, they'd rather hunt or PK.

Managing how people spend their time on Nexus is just one of the reasons why their subscriptions are low.

I'm fine with a stats cap, in fact -- I think it's necessary. But that's not the same thing.

Additionally, it's limiting for people who have played the game for years, who know everything that the game has to offer, but want to create a new character. Why should I have to wait over a year to get Sam San on an alt character as an experienced player? It makes absolutely no sense.

Hunting has continually produced more and more experience as Nexus has aged, but the trials never evolved with it. It's far past time to get rid of these archaic time-gates

You can't run a game with only good intentions. Mug was hard headed and refused to listen to the general consensus. I also agree with others saying that Mug was a bad GM. Okay, he changed woodcutting from picking up an axe to just swinging one. Yay. Wasn't it also Mug that introduced Tangun, which is probably largely responsible for the declining population? No one wants to play the game after that crap area. Gogoon was Mug's huge project that was going to revolutionize Nexus, but all it ended up being was an enormous and mostly unused map with the exception of a FEW hunting caves. 90% of it is vacant.

Am I wrong? Let a [Content removed] know!

QUOTE (SilentS @ Apr 18 2015, 10:27 AM) *
Let new players catch up? Call me biased, but that is part of the problem with this game. Everybody races to Sam/Sa, leaving anything under a wasteland, especially for those who are newer to the game (as few and far between as they are). Everybody is so into leeching that it is next to near impossible to find actual hunts for lower levels for the most part. If the leeching aspect was actually removed prior, then we would have a bit more diverse hunting range for people. It one (of many) reasons why people dont stay in the game for long.

As for the name change issue in itself, while it is completely idiotic on the consumer end, it is actually a good business move. People will pay it, and the work required is minimal. Beside it isnt like you can use (or be allowed) every combination there is.

I agree that leeching is rampant; that is part of a bigger problem -- hunting is largely boring and tedious. No challenging caves, every single AI is the same for the most part (except woodlands...which... why would anyone ever hunt there if it isn't worth the experience?)

I do take issue with anyone ever saying that time trials are put in place so "I can experience other aspects of the game". It is no one else's business how I decide to spend my time on Nexus. If I want to hunt and get buff quickly, I should be able to because I chose to dedicate my time to that than to something else. I'm very aware of everything Nexus has to offer -- what if I want to create a new character? How come it's fair that I still have to wait that long to get Sam or Sa san? Forgive me, but this isn't 2000 anymore. Through even legitimate hunting, it can just take a matter of weeks (for the more casual player; days for the more hardcore) to obtain Sam stats. It's incredibly stupid and outdated that anyone has to just twiddle their thumbs and wait to get the mark when they've achieved the stats.

Sooooooo... Kru is asking subpaths to submit the titles they would like for their Oh-san mark. Seems like it's finally happening. Thoughts? What do you think the trials will be? What do you think the names will be? What do you think the spells should be?

Two things I hope for when completing Oh-san trials: Nothing is tenure based (like you need to have sage 8 or something stupid) and you don't need players literally triple the stats to complete the trials.

Some name ideas:

Muse: Maestro
Spy: Operative
Ju Jak: Warlock
Shaman: Necromancer (?)
Diviner: Augurer
Ranger: Vagabond
Monk: Cleric

I dunno, I like more simple names.

As far as spells go, I hope some of them can be implemented into PK since essentially no offensive spells were allowed for PVP...

I was a precocious 10 year old not quite ready for the horrible awkward years that occurred during puberty... I saw my brother playing the game and I made unregistered newbies for months and just killed squirrels non stop. The good ol' days.

I now am a 24 year old restaurant manager that always says he's going to write a book but seldom puts pen to paper. I have registered occasionally, maybe once or twice a year, but am no longer an active citizen of the winds.

QUOTE (crimsonvisual @ Sep 9 2013, 03:03 AM) *
I'm simply pointing out if something is wrong you shouldn't do it. And if you do something wrong, you should not whine about the consequences you face for doing said action. I've played this game for many years, sacc'ing was out in the open, alignment shifting all the way down (as Akiudo has admitted to doing after the sac vote) was not. I recall them actually catching this and changing the time it takes between switching alignments, but alas they still left people who did alone. As I stated before, it was ignored because people fought with the vote stance saying it covered both.

But I didn't do anything wrong. If I did I would have been banned or jailed, but I wasn't. I have been banned for calling Genica the 'c word', surely they would have banned me for this then? These aren't 'consequences', silly, they are CHANGES. Changes that I am completely fine with. I understand Stein's argument; I'm not fighting it, I would just like to be able to use my character. I had always known about the ability to lose stats due to unalignment way before I actually did it. It wasn't a secret.

Furthermore, you keep arguing in the perspective like you're an associate of Kru. I would like to remind you that you are not, and you are basing your argument on the assumptions of why you THINK they did what they did.

QUOTE
Again, that wasn't what the vote was about. Your implying that the outcome was to let you stay in lower caves, and it wasn't. And a vote amongst people of an online game? How serious could that have been. The only reason I have seen for that vote, was so that GM Mug could play nice with all his friends and not hurt his image(or career, who knows?) Even if the results were an accurate count (which I highly doubt) How easy it would have been to bribe people with a little gold and items to skew the vote? Real easy, and it did happen.

The vote doesn't justify anything, just that we shouldn't slap you guys full force in the face. We aren't ignoring this vote at all. You people keep clinging to it like it's your holy grail, just so you can try and keep your unfair advantage.

Do me a favor and answer the question that you have been intentionally avoiding: WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A SACRIFICED CHARACTER IF YOU CAN'T ENTER THE STAT APPROPRIATE CAVES? Keeping the stats and thus keeping the stat levels were tied together. Why do you think Stein even mentioned it (and didn't disagree with it, by the way)? WHY WOULD SOMEONE COMPLAIN ABOUT A 120/65 EE ROGUE IF THEY COULDN'T EVEN ENTER THE SAME CAVE LEVEL?

I understand that you're allowed to have your personal opinion (no matter how stupid it makes you look, but that's okay), but here are the FACTS: There was a vote. The vote majority ruled in favor of those keeping the stats (and the assumption to keep the cave levels too is directly implied). You say you doubt that the results were an accurate count? In what way are you even qualified to say that? You have no basis for that assumption, it's just a crazy idea that popped up in your crazy brain to help your empty argument. You sound like a conspiracy theorist.

QUOTE
Another thing I'm going to point out to you, is that the vote was never on your gear. Sure you can enjoy those lower caves if you want, but with Sa Gear in a 99 cave? And he didn't change those caves "whilly nilly," he did so after several complaints were sent in with screenshots of these characters farming the lower caves. It's a new GM, which means with every game that gets one, your gonna see changes. I'm very glad we have a wiser one now, or atleast knows when to take appropriate action.

When I say "whilly nilly", I mean it was abrupt and with no precipitation. This [reasonable] decision could have/should have been made when he ANNOUNCED that Lost Mines was in the works and would be released, but instead it was shortly after it had already started. Like I said before, I'm for change. I'm fine with this decision; as Tupac once said, "I ain't mad atcha!" Stein made a very persuasive post, backed it up with a rational argument, and offered a solution that appealed to most everybody (and you're never going to please EVERYBODY).

However, your hero Stein also said in his post that there would be a way for those players to achieve their prior stats within a few days time... and while I didn't take him at his word (you never really should when you're dealing with Kru), I would just like to know if it's going to happen so I can participate in the event on my event character.

QUOTE
Who cares if you can't do much now? You've had your time, be happy with it. You can still get all your event items or hunt with your other characters.

Nothing illogical about my post or points, I'm arguing you should be happy with what you received and stop [Content removed]ing, Because if it were up to your peers again, the consequences would have been way way worse.

I didn't really [Content removed]. I wondered aloud when my rogue was going to be granted my base Ee stats. I would agree with you on one thing; that I am fortunate that the ...'consequences'... wasn't up to uneducated people such as yourself. In conclusion, I would like to summarize my argument in brief bullet points:

  • Sacrificing stats (whichever way) was never illegal, no matter how distasteful you personally found it. And comparing it to a crime that IS illegal is dumb. I spent my time doing something (hunting up a character, then spending who knows how long actually unaligning down) that was READILY AVAILABLE to EVERYONE. It wasn't bug abuse. It wasn't advantageous for just ONE person.
  • No matter what you say, the vote that took place was essentially a vote on if those sacrificed characters could also stay in those stat appropriate caves. Otherwise there would have been NO CAUSE for a vote, because there is NO POINT to having a sacrificed character that can't enter lower caves. You don't have to be Sherlock Holmes to make that logical deduction.
  • I am not against this change. It's reasonable and I would just like to be given the compensation that they have already said they were going to give.
  • Your argument is based on wild opinions that cannot be verified. Your theories that the vote count wasn't accurate, or that Mug was paid off, are claims that make your argument seem much less credible, and I can't really take you seriously. For this reason, this will be my last post in response to you.

See you next Tuesday! happy.gif

Hello again, person who doesn't know what they are talking about!

QUOTE (crimsonvisual @ Sep 8 2013, 09:44 AM) *
Fallacy of my post? Let's point out yours:

Never did anything wrong? Just because your not told specifically something is wrong, doesn't make it so. I'm not told to kill people everyday, but I still know that's wrong. Whether allowed to or not, any normal person would have stopped themselves due to crisis of conscience or at the very least said to themselves that it wasn't going to last forever. I've stated before in a previous post about event bugs being abused. Kru can't fix a bug when no one reports it, and usually the people abusing it won't report it. Sac'ing got caught eventually, but alignments went unnoticed (mainly cause it takes a lot of effort and time), I almost guarantee because no one utilizing the method told or reported it to anyone else other than friends, who then abused the method themselves.

... Murder is explicitly a crime. Like, an illegal crime. I don't care if you think what I did was douchey, but it wasn't a crime. So... you are incorrect. Again. Additionally, exactly how long have you played this game? The ability to sac down your stats through different methods was no secret -- everyone knew about it. I didn't go about that journey hooded and secretive; I did it out in the open and sometimes with the assistance of some well-known players. Your argument is invalid, so stop making yourself look like a dunce.

QUOTE
And who exactly are you fooling arguing THAT point, the community vote? I was there for the vote, yes it passed allowing characters to KEEP their stats that had ALREADY done the sacrificing, and sacrificing below a certain level was stopped. No vote was ever made to allow it to continue or promise you'd get your stats back if you found another way to do it. There already was an issue at the time with it, so why did you then go and find ANOTHER way to do it? Finding a way around what currently is set in place... hmm sounds like cheating to me. That vote had nothing to do with whats been going on since, and I hate when people argue this point, for I am quite sure that's how it has been justified up until now - (Everyone who complained was met with this argument, and since no one wanted to look closely at what was happening, or bother, the "vote" was the easy way to do nothing) So using the vote for your justification to stat down using alignments (the vote was about sac'ing), Just ain't gonna work.

Um... As Stein alluded in his post; the vote was really about not only letting them keep their stats but also access to those stat appropriate cave levels. What exactly is the point of staying below your base mark stats if you can't go to those caves...? Oh, there is none. Certainly not for carnages. And I have no idea what you're talking about when you're saying that our found ANOTHER way to do 'it'. If by 'it', you mean sacrificing stats, then SA SACRIFICE was the 'other' way. I unaligned my stats before Sa san, as I mentioned before, and prior to most of the current community actually doing what I did. So again, your argument is invalid and you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about.

The vote has everything to do with justification for my stats. It was not only public player awareness of it, but also GM awareness. Clearly, the GM didn't believe that I was committing a crime and decided to let the community vote on it. And then the majority of the community clearly didn't believe that I had committed a crime because they voted in my favor. Again, your argument is invalid.

QUOTE
And, I might point out Stein stated very clearly the vote was never about the gear you get to wear or the advantage of enjoying a lower cave. It was only about stats, and whether people should keep them. Finally a GM smart enough to see the difference.

Stein recognized that keeping not only the stats but also the stat appropriate cave levels were interchangeable. The proof is when he changed the cave requirements all whilly nilly, made a public post acknowledging the stat vote, and offered stat compensation. He is aware that keeping the stats was indicative that there was an agreement to also let those players keep those cave levels. Again, I would like to pose the question: If the purpose was NOT to allow them to retain those lower level caves, then what other purpose was there? You don't know, because there wasn't any other purpose. There is no point in having a 120/60 Ee character when they are Cave7 and can't enter lower carnages as well. It's like you're blinding yourself with intentional ignorance.

QUOTE
You got to enjoy one event, more than others got, so take it or leave it. And what was that? Balance the lower caves for you too? Sure, they just have to remove ALL your marks you payed for and you can stay in those caves, want that?

You can be upset, that's your right, but think about why your really upset and you will understand why others don't want to hear it.

You don't read well. I said balance the players who were then suddenly thrown in those higher cave levels to where they are effective. I can't really do much as a 120/65 Ee Rogue in Cave7 other than getting my ass spanked. I'm not that upset -- I was when it suddenly happened and no light was shed on the matter. Now that there is a completely fair exchange, I'm alright with it.

Please return with a logical train of thought before you make an ass of yourself again. rolleyes.gif

Probably not gonna happen till after the event. But seeing as everyone who did this is getting their stats back at some point anyhow, I'd take comfort thats the only punishment you get for such a large reward. You chose to sacrifice stats, why should you get em back? No where does it say when you Sac, change alignments, or etc. that you get to enjoy the benefits of a lower cave. Like Stein has said, that is a huge unbalance to the game, you can't get angry now that the game makes logical sense. You shouldn't be able to wear EE gear if your not EE stats, very simple.

Take the benefit you received over the months/years you've had your character at the advantage in your hunting caves/gathering & farming and just count yourself lucky the GM promised your stats back, whenever and how you get them.

Allow me to point out the fallacy of your condescending post:

There is no punishment because I never did anything wrong -- simple as that. It was part of the games mechanics that allowed me to dip below my base stat range; I didn't abuse a bug. It did what it was supposed to do. I didn't dupe gold or log on an Archon or anything.

Whether you agree with it or not is irrelevant -- the community (you know, the majority of the people that didn't even have a stat sacrificed character...) voted that we keep our abilities and stats. Stein doesn't know why there was a vote -- I don't either, but there was one, and they voted in favor of us keeping everything. I would say returning the stats of those characters is fair compensation when overruling a majority vote.

By the way, I think I only was able to participate in one single event since I had sacrificed my stats on my Rogue. I did it before Sa san when all that was available was by unalignment.

I think it's fair to be a tad upset that the vote was suddenly overruled during an event (especially when they are so rare...) and you're unable to effectively utilize that character for the remaining duration of that event. At least when you level the playing field for the low level caves, do so for us as well since we never did anything wrong to begin with.

Sigh...

Mage alterations:

- Either sanc removed or replaced with a less effective sanctuary. Mages need to be the glass canons that they were initially designed to be. Even at lesser levels, they outmatch their rogue/warrior counterparts. As it is now, they can effectively heal themselves, asv themselves, dish out attacks that are both powerful and 100% accurate and with reasonable aethers. What's the downside to being a mage, exactly?

And please try not to argue with me that Mages need more stats overall. Let's be real here. Mages are useful in any hunts at any level. They are able to ascertain those stats easier than warriors/rogues. Additionally, once they reach a certain level of mana, they're able to cleanly kill the majority of people because of the damage of their spells. That's why you have mages like Metora/Clownin who have high vita, because their mana is effective for what they need it to do.

- Reinstate "Pestilence" or provide a ward alternative that is deflectable and short duration that protects the target.

- The further you are, the less damage it should do - just like the closer you are, the more damage it should do.

Rogue alterations:

- Either remove sleep trap / or simply remove "set trap" (the one that has a 10s aether), and make it the same duration as doze (9s vs 27s) __IN PK__.

- Give them an upgrade from Snare trap at Ee san (Like Vex).

- I always thought it'd be cool if they had a warp trap, where it transported the person who stepped on it in some random spot in the current map (could be PK only to prevent abuse). This is obviously not a necessary addition in order to balance out PK, just thought it'd be nifty.

Warrior alterations:

- Improve WW damage.

- Dash should be given to all Warriors, with low aethers (~10s).

- I thought it would be cool if a spell could be given to them that allows them to run about as quickly as a horse (even though some warriors already do that lozl) for about 15s with aethers of about 70. Could be called "Rush"!

- Lower aether and duration on Hoche. (Currently it lasts 60s with aethers of 180s -- I propose it lasts 20s with aethers of 50-60s)

Poet alterations:

- None really. Poets are pretty balanced, although a better Restore would be nice, and maybe an increased sanctuary.

Let's get realistic, though. None of this will happen. People have talked about balancing in PK for years now. And do you really think Mages will be happy getting nerfed even though it is necessary? They're used to being Demi-Gods and they won't give that away without a fight. Also Kru is too lazy so whatever.

-Gorgax!

What they really need to do is take away the ability of one player being able to tank another (essentially just rogues). Sam Ka is totally retarded in crusades, but I'd be all for banning all sam san+ spells (but that would kind of suck for Warriors, WW is a joke). Wouldn't happen of course, but it'd make the bracket a lot more enjoyable in my opinion =p
