What given benefits are there for allowing free-to-play until 98?? Real NexusTK BEGINS at 99... The only possible benefit to this is that it actually starts the conversation; but this really doesn't solve any of the dilemmas or address the declining population. I really just don't understand.
I think the biggest obstacle is figuring out what to do with Subpaths. Because unless they changed it, you have to be level 50 in order to join one. So maybe that's why it's level 98 FTP? If they lifted the level 50 requirement to level 99, then it would make sense. But this game doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the first place, so who knows.
Free to play till 98 is fine. You get people into the mix and give them a taste of what they can get, then they need to register to sell their EXP and really get the ball rolling.
Its perfectly fine to do.
The game used to be free until level 10 only don't forget back in the day.

You can still join clans at level 20 and subpaths as level 50. It requires to be registered although. If wants to register before reaching level 98 they can.
They should just make the game free to play and totally eliminate character levels. The real game is about selling experience to buy stats and using stat based abilities. And those abilities aren't really useful pre-99.

If the game went totally free to play back in 2007, we probably wouldn't have seen the decline NexusTK is at today.
That being said, KRU probably refuses to do this because they lack the business acumen of pushing the kruna shop while disposing of monthly subscriptions. Maybe they still depend on every current accounts' $10 per month to pay the unknown number of salaries for their staff.
Although FTP to 98 is a confusing change to some, it's still KRU making progress... however slight and slow that may seem.
