Least you weren't gullible enough to get suckered by half the subpath elders into RPing as a villain against someone who had the power to make one phone call to get you banned from the game. Yeah. I was young and dumb.

QUOTE (Doctor @ Feb 1 2014, 12:15 PM) can we start labeling alston as the solman of rp yet or what lol You can label me as the reason half those people got into power... the catalyst. Head judge wouldn't have had head judge if I didn't create the whole system. The second (and most influential) KRA General wouldn't have had the KRA if I hadn't told mhul to give her the job over me. Sabotaged two elders in two subpaths. Made a poetry event popular that eventually led to the spinoff of Poetry Revels. Funny thing is I didn't really accomplish much myself. I was in and out of organizations all the time. I had this habit of going 200% into a task, then pulling out extremely fast and finding something else to play with. Can't count how many times I jumped from one thing to the next, from running my huge in-game covenant (coulda made a clan lol), to Lazy Sundays, to KRG, Phoenix Militia, Monks, Justice System, BIA, Chonguns, I was all over the place. Funniest thing was, except for Lazy Sundays, I was always the "second in command" grinding stuff to get done. I remember Chronicles when the board first came out, and I slammed a 12-post story up (I caused the post-spam limit to be implemented). I remember seeing the jail rock before it got installed, thinking "Wh-what?" Seen the GM's map (a GM invited me once for a "one-time warning" when I returned to the game as Dukati), was banned twice, was only jailed once (the treason charge). I have a lot of interesting (good and bad) memories. Looking back, I miss the old days, both the negative and positive. I especially enjoyed unraveling the mysteries in the game, which led to me exposing a few archons' mortal identities. I enjoyed powerleveling in the game before the second GM took over and put in "limiters" (aethers, weakened spells, changed cave dynamics, etc). Bone Finger, Ogres, Mythic runs, taking out Maletic, Bluestone, Shattering, Reckoning, Kingdom War, Sunmoon Clan's Antics, the birth of Nagnang and its clans, god... so many memories. Heck, I remember when there were no spell hot-keys (no 1-10 to trigger abilities). You had to set off spells manually (shift-Z + letter, I think? been a long time). Mouse-clicking only worked for selecting a character. There was a massive debate on Comm board about the price of Ginseng and the first GM was always replying to us on every message board (including dreams, explaining why or why not), puppetz talking people out of passwords, then duping people into downloading scripts to keylog their accounts... guy had no real hacking ability himself. I remember going through an emo phase, even giving puppetz access to my character for kicks, then kicking him off five minutes later. I quit the game several times, including a rage-quit when I pretty much said "%#( all my friends" (which ended up being my first ban). I would support people gaining power, then be appalled at their abuse of power, attempt to overthrow them, change my mind mid-course, then get punished for apologizing to them... one such time got me the treason scum post and jailing. I remember coming back to the game six months after being banned, creating a Chongun warrior that rose through BIA ranks and created what was the most active (not the most power-stat, just most activity-based) unit in the army. I remember the "war" between Chongun elder Gildenstar and Darkmaverick. I remember Gamefire's secret ambition to usurp power. I remember Gildenstar and I back-stabbing each other on two separate occasions, yet still being friends. I remember DarkMaverick and I first being friends, then being the most hated enemies. I was either friends with, or met in passing, almost every legendary player in the game from a decade ago. I remember the Archon and RP-character missteps, from creating Iudicium, to watching Mhul's player get kicked off the character for making a snide remark to the sunmoon primogen, to figuring out that three Archons (who held power the entire time for years) all being senior Diviners, I remember Sanhae Mayor (an actual player), I remember so, so much from the old days.... Right now I'm just an old man rumblin' about the good ol' times. I don't go running around naked in nexus

QUOTE (Doctor @ Feb 2 2014, 01:06 AM) sounds like you were just a normal person from back then with a thousand other people dude the over-glorification is annoying to read its like darkmaverick but even he was someone I don't whine about mistakes, missed opportunities, or how things should be. And I really don't care about "being someone," just felt like sharing old memories, and how things were back 15+ years ago. Do what Adam did, gloss over it

QUOTE (SilentS @ Jan 31 2014, 07:32 PM) Speaking of PKing in vale for some sort of events, one of the biggest issues I always had with that were the trigger happy archons monitoring the area. There was one time when we were there fighting some event characters, and after killing one, my overflow ended up killing Mhul and one other player (something that was rather unavoidable because of the game mechanics). Off to the 15 min timeout I went for "event disruption". What a crock of [Content removed] that was, and I know I was not the only person that happened to. That is one of the bigger reasons why many of the clan/path leaders steered away from those kind of things, because those with the powers to jail/timeout often jumped at the chance to do so.
That was just one example of the problems that plagued the game over the years, even back then. It never mattered how many players wanted to do something like that, it was the few with power who didn't that made it almost impossible to work around unless you had a way of bypassing them. And not just with PK either, but with any sort of issue. Another time that comes to mind is when there was an issue between the Chongun and a mage path, after we marked a guide for her actions, she went to her elder and cried. Elder threw threats and insults demanding we remove the mark, and when we refused, that elder tried jumping on an archon and threatening us again. Again we refused. Only after talking with the GM at the time the threats stopped, and the mark stayed. That at the time solidified the fact for me that it was almost too impossible to get anything done for event planning if you are not apart of said path or a close friend of said path. Nothing left to do other than just work on stability of the path and be accused of being boring. To top things off, when one of the biggest power abusers of the game was the supposive "most trusted archon" by the GM's, then you know things are in a bad way.
The way I see it, if it wasn't for that roadblock right there, then Nexus may have been a better place for a time with more real interactive events rather than the retarded stage plays that have gone on for years. If your overflow was strong enough to pwn Mhul, that was Kru's fault for not giving him 10million+ HP like all other event characters

Besides I think I OF'd him after he just attacked, so he would have already been weakened as it is. So lucky shot!

So lucky shot! If I remember correctly, Mhuls stats were 250k v/m 130 g/w/m. That was around the time of Buya/Kug zibong war.

QUOTE (Adam @ Feb 4 2014, 01:09 PM) Because God knows it couldn't have been skill with you, hahah. Now now be nice. Besides as I said that was not intentional. Funny as hell, but not intentional. It only skill if I did that on purpose. Besides, most know I suck in PK events. I am better at annoying than killing there.

QUOTE (Yeas @ Feb 9 2014, 12:55 AM) Was only a couple weeks after the new elder at the time decided to introduce a way to remove Shaman curses to help a friend of hers out, also against my repeated objections. New guide at the time, so no pull haha. Curse removal was introduced at the GM's demand. Apparently all subpaths -have- to offer a way to get their redbrandings removed. Though you're correct about curse. One complaint was filed because someone lost the 500 Kruna face, and whatever hairstyle they had bought. Not to mention the spell bugged out when kruna was implemented. And that took well over 2 years to fix. And we lost one of the coolest abilities we had, however, the harassment for curse went down. People weren't so keen on not being headless, but having a red brand. -shrugs- Oh well. Just wanted to...clarify, cheers.

Just wanted to...clarify, cheers. The GM request to have negative mark removal came some time later, and at which point, it wasn't in the hands of the paths. The events I am referring to took place on the same night that Alexisa (I have trouble remembering the character name spelling) passed eldership, under duress, to StriGoi. It was the same time I was ascended to guide, and the very first matter that was discussed was the removal of marks for the sole purpose of a "SailorTaures" (or something along those lines), a personal friend of the then newly appointed elder, to have his/her mark removed. There you are, clarified.
