Personally its really discouraging to see. I can ignore the spam or trolling pretty well, but the giant box of common sense is repetitive. I feel like its been up for far too long. Can we please take it down now? I just rather have immature trolls.

My thoughts exactly.

I can't say I visit less because of 'the giant box of common sense' (well-put), but I will say the boards seem less active since it was put up.

Don't you spend most of your time on here reporting people? I wouldn't be surprised if your reports make up the majority made.

With that aside, after a few days you just get use to the giant list of rules at the top. Yes, its annoying, but I just scroll down quickly to get past it. laugh.gif

So what's the thinking here? Ten people think having to press the page down key one more time is too strenuous for them? I haven't read the list once because I know it's not for me. I don't really know who it's for, but I don't mind it.

Posted by: MainAttraction Aug 31 2010, 07:23 PM

it's pretty much just for me. SUCK IT YOU [Content removed]es.

Actually I've seen plenty of threads mysteriously disappear without my help. Also, when doc took his shots at me I didn't report it....didn't have to either. I'm sure I'm not the only one reporting, just the only one being open and honest about it because I'm immune to peer pressure and don't care if people call me a "narc."

I haven't been around because I was driving around the country. Rules being posted doesn't make any difference.

Posted by: Winder Sep 7 2010, 01:11 AM

It's obvious from the fact that there are like 5 posts daily now across all topics that the frivolous modding is killing the forums rather quickly. I am actually shocked that this poll and all the posts on it haven't been removed yet as they break the rules about discussing modding tongue.gif

Logically, I can only take this to mean that the rules about remaining on topic supersede those that pertain to not discussing modding, and as this thread is about discussing modding... perhaps it will continue to survive laugh.gif

Correct.

You can discuss board moderation on a topic regarding board moderation. We don't want to prevent people from expressing their opinions, we just don't want a topic to go off on a tangent about a deleted post.

A while ago there was also a bit of discussion of the rule notifications on the off-topic lounge's immortal thread, which was allowed because you're allowed to go off topic as much as you want in that area of NF.

As for board activity, the statistics show a slight drop but it doesn't seem too much different than the normal up and down cycles over the last 6-12 months.

I was about to shrink the notice down to a link, but after some recent situations I think I'll hold off on that a few days.

By 'recent situations', I'm pretty sure she mostly means me posting a picture of an on-topic lolcat and commenting on why it was deleted.

Posted by: Blackh Sep 8 2010, 09:05 PM

Nope. I don't mind rules at all.

What if you don't break them, but still get posts deleted/warned/suspended/banned?

wait so nexusforum staff = kru? Cos according to this poll ud think the powers that be would listen to the users.

but you just ignore us too.

or maybe nexus fans are just so used to being ignored.

the list of rules is the lamest thing ever and I refuse to even read them lol. They just remind me that in america, freedom of speech and freedom of press aparently means big business has freedom of censorship and media manipulation and less power to the people.

Freedom of speech / press does not apply during the usage of a privately-owned forum. You kids need to read up on your constitution. The constitution applies to the government and its citizens, not civil issues (citizens vs. citizens).

If you verbally crap in someone else's house, that person can throw you out of their house. It's called trespassing.

Hell, they can throw you out of their house just because they feel like it.

These forums = Rachel's house, and you're allowed to read / post here so as long as you follow the house rules.

Don't like it? Create a blog and express your "Freedom of Speech"... oh wait, you're bound by the rules of your ISP too, since you're using their internet to browse the web in the first place!

God, the whole "Freedom of speech" argument always comes from people that have absolutely no idea what Freedom of Speech means and how it pertains to their rights as American Citizens.

You have the right to express yourself. Rachel has the right to ban you for being obnoxious on her boards.

Posted by: SilentS Sep 18 2010, 09:00 AM

"Freedom Of Speech" does not exist anywhere. No matter where you go, even in the US, you are bound by some form of law or rule that censors you in some form or another. Only possible safe haven to this is in your own home. But even then that can still be used against you under certain circumstances. The term is over used and often in situations where it does not apply.

NF is dead regardless of the long list of grocery rules, its a forum for a dead game!

Posted by: Akidoshi Sep 18 2010, 02:11 PM

I'm just tryin to stir some conversation.

not like anyone tries to censor me or follows the don't post anything that will cause someone to spontaniously combust through frusturation due to op not knowing what they're talking about rule anyway

Posted by: YanDaMan Sep 18 2010, 05:07 PM

I just want the mod's to know that, 90% of people dont even READ that giant box of annoyance. We read the first sentence and goes "oh cool the same rule BS we saw 10000 times, ignore and moving on".

All it served was giving everyone the extra annoyance of having to press PAGE DOWN or scroll down to see the theads.

Sorry if the truth hurts.

The whole thing was pointless.

And on topic, yes it did cause me to check these forums much less. And apparently I got a PM saying I was temporarily banned which I didnt even know about, cause I never checked these forums for that time I was banned due to this. Go figures rolleyes.gif

Posted by: Akidoshi Sep 18 2010, 05:43 PM

well actually they put it in a little expandable area...

fast!!! Like...im impressed and thank youuuu. I mostly just started getting on here due to ease of access on my phone and the menu was kinda annoying and redundant...

thank you again for listening to the users. Sorry if I was overly sarcastic and probably offensive to staff ultimately trying to run one of the last pieces of nexus fan site on the internet
