http://www.theesa.com/wp-content/uploads/2...-Facts-2015.pdfAn interesting article with facts about the video gaming industry.
Yes,
the entire videogame industry.
There's no specific focus on MMORPGs which must still be played on Windows XP or an emulator (such as Windows XP Compatibility Mode in newer versions of Windows) and cost $9.99 a month to play.
Hell, there's no specific focus on MMORPGs either.
It's also based on survey data, which means the results are only good for those customers and companies who participated in the survey. You can be sure KRU wasn't among them.

DM Youre telling me out of 155 million gamers or people that play games in the US, a few thousand couldnt possibly be able to have time or be able to afford 10$ a month registration to nexus?
Not under the current conditions, no. I find it extremely hard to believe.

Also Your income argument about 1000 registered accounts is very very likely a very wrong number. Many users have several accounts, many users but additional kruna either to sell or to use for personal reasons, and at 30$ a clip for the max# of kruna, thats 3 months of a normal registration.
The only people with multiple accounts are those who
1) multi-box their accounts, such as playing a poet and rogue together like Conro did
2) bot / dupe.
Neither is a large demographic.

All of those kids in high school and college who had NO money and had to beg for 10$ a month to register, now are able to afford whatever the hell they want because they have jobs, and even any parent with a kid can afford 10 bucks a month for a game. If you put it logically, paying 10$ for online entertainment can save you hundreds instead of going out.
You've forgotten to factor in the existence of
Time and the existence of
Competitors in the market.
It was about a decade ago when those teenagers and college kids started playing NexusTK and since then a large number of GOOD MMORPGs have went free to play, and the paid ones like FFXIV and WoW are utterly amazing; not just in graphics but also in gameplay. Everything you could want, from nigh-instant dungeon party queues (especially if you tank / heal) to intense boss raids, to elaborate guild systems accessible to anyone, exists in these games. That's why the teenagers and college students of today aren't signing up anymore.
(As an example of the latter, I have a max level Free Comapny -- guild -- in FFXIV that offers stat boosts to my members, including XP boosts, and a custom house with crafting bonus tables and furniture I can place. Contrast to NexusTK where it takes an enormous effort to even form a Clan, subject to the approval of other ?Clan leaders and the GMs, and they don't compare at all).
Those who still game are more likely to play one of those other games, rather than NexusTK, because NexusTK has literally nothing to offer except nostalgia which is shattered quickly upon playing the game again after having experienced any of these other games.
NexusTK could be made to compete, but it's not looking like it is going to.
NexusTK has one mechanic that truly separated it from other MMOs and that is you can essentially advance your character forever. There's no ceiling on how strong they can be. But now Diablo 3 offers the same thing and with no monthly fee and a significantly better designed gameplay experience.
The people still playing NexusTK aren't coming for the gameplay. It's just the nostalgia and the positions of power the lifers have obtained. That appeals to a couple hundred people, not thousands.
