Just an observation, it seems like people in Nexus ragged on Guerrund for posting his opinions on things with his reporting, until he quit. I didn't think RT was the appropriate place for that complaining but that's not important. What I have noticed is that some of the recent news posts have been very opinionated. I half-wonder if the people of Nexus will have a similar reaction, but I already know the answer is "no." Whatever!

Why do people always [Content removed] about opinions being posted on NA? Go back to news posts from 2002, opinions have always been used in NA reporting.

It's unprofessional and frankly embarrassing and to add to that, frustrating with the absence of a "comment" section.

If you want to post an opinion, talk it out, use the in game boards, use these NexusForum boards, but to claim your agenda and opinion is "news" is just shameful.

And yeah, whatever. What's next, reporters listing their personal classifieds? At least do some investigative journalism, if you can put down the spoon that you use to stir up that big pot of [Content removed] with for long enough.

As Musoyan said, NA reporters have always posted opinions. Hell, the founder of the site was known for his lengthy rants on the news page. When polled in the past, NF users have agreed that reporters should be allowed to post opinions. The only time complaints seem to come up is when people disagree with the opinion, in which case they come here and instead of giving their own opinion, they call for censorship. It's silly. If you don't like the opinion expressed by the reporter, too bad. You don't have to like everything.

As stated at the bottom of NA:

"The news presented on this main page not only contains factual information on the game Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds by Nexon Inc, but also the opinions of the person who is writing the news.".

I agree that it's fine. I feel that people blew up Guerrund for no reason and if they judged other reporters by the same means maybe they'd feel the same way about some of the other recent reports. It's not a big deal but I'm just semi-mourning the loss of some interesting reports on the Phoenix/Kinung situation. smile.gif

As stated, NA has always had personal opinions (and issues) as news. It has been the soap box for quite a few over the years. Yes it has been a sore spot for many, and has been blown out of proportion many times too. My take on it? It is ok for the most part, yet some have taken it way too far, venturing far into unprofessionalism just to cause [Content removed] (to put it mildly). But in the end... Who cares? Any time you read anything written by somebody, you have to expect biased opinions of some level. If you dont, then you should just stop reading in general.

Pretty sure this would all be a non-issue if the reporter(s) would just introduce their piece as being an op-ed.

I'm not sure majority of the people posting over the years even knows what that means.

Why doesn't NA remedy this by having an op-ed section open to more than just reporters? I think NA and the game in general could benefit from a centralized long form discussion that isn't these forums. Pop a comments section on NA news/op-ed, hire some people who would be okay to moderate the comments section (I would volunteer for this) to weed out bots posting and the most vulgar responses, and there you go.

Be glad they still give a crap enough to post anything to begin with, you ungrateful brats. smile.gif

Seriously, though, nexus is notorious for bias in everything involving that game. Assume nothing is without opinion.

This is a tiny fan site for a small computer game that has been around for nearly 2 decades, which by the way is completely free and run by volunteers. Not exactly the New York [Content removed]ing Times.

And on that point professional gaming news was not picked up by Reuters because big outlets like IGN were seen to be so lacking in integrity that out of the 100 questions/tests they have to pick a news outlet at they couldn't get to 25/100 of them (the lowest you can be to get picked up is 60/100).

IGN is not professional and is an insult to professional gaming.

IGN wasn't the only publication that was looked into by Reuters, Gamespot and a few others were as well and couldn't even beat out National Enquirer in regards to journalistic integrity. This is kind of off topic but the point remains if you're looking to Nexus Atlas as some sort of Oxford Press publication then I weep for you.
