Nexus Forums _ Nexus Polls _ Will No Gm Cause You To Unregister?

Rachel's comment on another post made me wonder, how many kindred spirits?

** Edit** Tried to fix wording on poll

I've stopped playing since the beginning of last summer, but did come back for a month during Santa Mhul. I just don't have any desire to play anymore. All the people that I talked to regularly on Nexus I either talk to on facebook or msn.

I'm rather patient by nature, I think I could wait until the end of the summer but having no GM would cause me to unregister. As I said elsewhere though, I have the feeling we won't be left without a GM for very long.

Oddly enough, a lot of forum users are people who have quit the game. For whatever reason they still feel some connection because they hang around here. tongue.gif

Then there are die hards like me that will stick with the game till it's dying day which, hopefully, won't be soon. I don't think it can last long without a GM though. The game runs on events and without a GM there won't be any. This weekend is Mother's Day; guess what we won't be doing not that anyone every really liked that event anyway. We still should consign Abu to the 10th region of hell for killing Mug just for history's sake.

No more fixes for tickets? I wonder how long people will play. No subpath or clan requests? No way to get rid of corrupt officials / archons? Just a few of the basic things mug did that I doubt his boss will bother to handle. How many will stick around for that? I sincerely hope the higher ups are reading this and reassign someone from the free games to the paying customers.

I like reminiscing about the "good ol' days." What's wrong with that? tongue.gif

For now, no. If we go for awhile and it seems like Kru's not even trying to replace mug, then I might quit, because the game will die eventually without a GM. So, I said the end of summer. I can give them a couple of months to find a new GM, but if we go til September and don't even hear anything about a new GM I'm gone.

I agree that without a GM specific for nexus, the game will eventually die.

But I find it rather funny that we lost Eldridge in October 2005 and Mug only made his first post on May 2006, so for 7 months we've been without a GM and we didn't realize it.

I understand that after Mug, we've changed our perception and standards for what we expect from a GM so that's why the tolerance of people for a no GM game won't last long. Next person in job better be really good =)

Wony was pretty much GMing during that time. Didn't do much though.

Actually we did have a GM. He was taken from one of the other Kru games as a fill in (or so I was told at the time). It was not Wony though. The funny thing though is that after Mug's appearance, GM Kru was labeled as lazy for all the unfinished things he left behind. However GM Kru's biggest impact that still remains today is the fact he was the one who brought out the subpath balancing rage/furies.

I think they should be making a post on what their ideas for the future are, and how Nexus will be run. Leaving everything high and dry is a bad idea in my opinion.

I actually quit playing a long time. but continued to come back every now and then when there was a wisdom star, a big event or santa mhul or something. I have a little more downtime on my hands now that I'm in college and have considered making a full time comeback to playing nexus. But if there's no GM I may not come back. sad.gif

I voted 2 months, but it's really more like 2.5 months. And that's conditional, based on what kind of support we get.

We had wm, stein, and kru show up during that period after Eldridge was fired and before mug was promoted to GM. (And just because Eldridge wasn't a presence in the community for a while before he was fired, doesn't necessarily mean he wasn't doing work at that time. He created most of SotE and I think designed at least the maps of Gogoon, unless that was the GM before him?).

Just because Mug told us every time he added herb pipe sales to a clan NPC doesn't mean he was actually doing more work or better work.

I think some people's claims that Kru's just going to let the game run itself into the ground are a little far-fetched, but then again, I never thought Kru managed itself all that well...but I think a loss of players would be a wake-up call if they decide the game can leech what little money it can before it crashes without a GM.

ok this poll needs redone. The choices are either to.unreg or care.

uh how about stay registered but want someone to carry on mugs dream?

another note I could play nexus another 2 yr AS IS if I still find hunting and CE contests.

but ur also right. GM better not suck. I kinda stopped following darkages but that game went from fun to stagnant for me...

Yeah but the multipliers were screwy and mug had to correct the mistakes.

I for one believe the people playing Nexus right now are pretty much going to do so until the day the game dies or they do; whichever comes first. Having a GM or not will have no impact in whether they continue playing. They are playing to retain their in-game achievements / status /whatever or to maintain social ties, or both.

Nobody is playing Nexus because they anticipate the game is going to get better.

I hang around these forums out of habit than for any other reason. Maybe a mild curiosity in what happens next in the saga of Nexus.

I'm not sure if it's out of habit or what, but I regularly log in and have been for the last 10+ years, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. There have been good GMs with tons of support, and others with little. When they decided to pull subpath support the last time, I didn't see it as detrimental as a number of others may have. If they do their general maintenance on the servers, I would be fine with there being no GM. This game's main draw has been and always will be with the players make of it. It may be harder to find some of the more devoted players who still enjoy playing the game than it used to be, but they are still there if you know where to look for them.
