As found in the support:

QUOTE
Nexus 6.5 Corrupted Download (I/O Error)
Did you encounter an error while trying to install the Nexus TK client?

Step 1: Check your user privileges.

If you are using Windows XP or Windows 2000 Operating System you will need to make certain that you have Administrator privileges to install Nexus TK. Logging on with the Administrator account will allow you to install Nexus TK.

Step 2: Clear your temporary directory.

If you have the proper Administrator privileges, or are using Windows 98/ME, and are still receiving an I/O error during the installation then you may need to clear out your Temporary
directory.

Clear out Temporary Directory:
a) Click Start->Run.
cool.gif Type the following command then press Enter:
explorer %TEMP%
c) Delete all of the files in that folder.

Step 3: Delete the corrupt files and download new ones.

The only way to fix a corrupt file download is to clear your Temporary Internet Files, delete the bad file and try again.

1. Clear your Temporary Internet Files:
a) Open up Internet Explorer.
cool.gif Click Tools->Internet Options.
c) In the "Temporary Internet Files" area click the "Delete Files.." button.
d) Click OK to delete the temporary files.

2. Delete the Corrupt file.

3. Download new files from the download page.

If you're using Vista / 7: In order to have the correct administrator privileges you must run the file as an administrator, right click it, the option "run as administrator" should be there, if it isn't then you aren't an administrator of your machine and you'll need to ask someone else that has full access to the machine you're playing with.

Here is a walk-through for you guys on how to avoid issues with Patching in Windows Vista and Windows 7.
[Note: This method has been tested on Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit), Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), Windows 7 Professional (64-bit), and Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit)]

Here is a video you can follow along with.

Step 1: Disable User Account Control (UAC)

I. Click the Windows Logo in the bottom left corner of your Desktop.

II. Type the letters 'cmd' in the search bar and hit Enter.

After hitting enter, the following window should open.

III. Copy the command line code in the code box shown below. Do not try to write this code out yourself. Simply highlight it and copy it.

QUOTE
C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /k %windir%\System32\reg.exe ADD HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v EnableLUA /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

IV. In the command line window opened in the previous step, right click and choose 'paste'. This will paste the copied command line into the cmd window. Ensure that the code that you pasted in the cmd window is identical to the code from the screen shot.

V. Once you have checked the syntax of the command line that you've pasted, complete the command by pressing 'Enter'. If done correctly, your screen should look similar to the screenshot below.

Step 2: Assign Administrative permissions to the Nexus folder.

This process ensures that all files and executables in the Nexus folder are given Administrative permissions, which reduces the chance of issues occurring with legacy software (ie: Nexus).

I. Navigate to the KRU folder by opening the start menu and pasting the following command line in the search bar. Hit 'Enter' once you've pasted the code below.

QUOTE
C:\Program Files (x86)\KRU\

II. This should open the Windows Explorer window and your screen should look like the one below.

III. Right click on the NexusTK folder and select 'Properties'. This will open the NexusTK Properties window.

IV. Select the 'Security' Tab at the top of the window. This will display the permissions for the NexusTK folder.

V. Click the 'Edit...' button. This will bring up the Permissions Window for the NexusTK folder.

VI. Select the Group name 'Users (YourComputerName\Users)' in the top pane.

VII. In the bottom pane (Permissions for Users), select the top left check box for Full Control - Allow.

VIII. Select 'Apply' and then select 'OK'. When shown the Properties window, select 'OK'.

IX. Now at the Windows Explorer Window which shows the NexusTK folder, open the NexusTK folder. This will display the files inside this folder.

X. Right-click on the NexusTK.exe file, and select 'Properties'.

XI. Navigate to the 'Compatibility' tab, and select the 'Change settings for all users' button at the bottom.

XII. Select the check-box for 'Run this program as an administrator'. Click 'Apply' then 'OK'. Click 'OK' when presented with the properties window for NexusTK.exe

XIII. Complete the steps X-XII for the 'patcher.exe' file.

Completing these steps should prevent any issues with patching Nexus in the future.

Or if you really don't want ANY problems whatsoever that UAC could cause while executing Nexustk, just install it in a different folder then program files. I installed it in my user folder on my work pc and that always patches without running it as an administrator.
