Forget who thanked me for posting some old spy shots and asked for some old training camp shots, but here are a few anyways ::

Yeah that was a great event. It was an invite only rogue competition that I held to find the top PKing rogue. There was a number of competitions that spread out over a couple weeks--free for all, duels, duos, etc. I have hundreds of screen shots from that event alone lol. I'm not going to post them all because it takes too much time to go through them but I'll post a few more from the free for all etc cause it was a pretty bad ass event =)

I'm a bit obsessive with screen shots... I have over a million nexus screen shots that go way back to Beta lol >.<

FYI, Yoshiku's comment about "Phala is seriously sick" meant that Phalance is really amazing, not that he is "sick" lol. Phalance happens to be one of the greatest characters Nexus ever saw lol =)

who won the FFA? rad?
i remember seeing some epic duels back in the day, ShinI vs Chongun (shini was like 2x his stats and chongun was wearing earth armor) Trista aka sxybabe vs marimba , quizibo vs ixeus , glory battles like shortee vs gvs's glory warrior ( we're talking two 85 warriors with SABRE's, mwp, ambrosia, totem helm. rashidis adveture mage that he used to spend millions of coins on during rounds using all sorts of flame ambers and crazy tricks.. princecharm vs aroha ( two max legend rouged with spirits fury.. tons of epic vale battles, i rember some crazy vale event chonguns vs barbs, they put all of them into this scrolled off area, and everyone fought to the death, barbs vs chonguns.. monks would mass rez between rounds.
i was the 3rd member of the forsaken clan, realizing pk worked EVERYWHERE. since i decided to give my nagnag robes to an npc instead of keeping them, it automatically gave you a pop up to join the forsaken.. there was a legend mark for it that must be really rare because the original forsaken was only a couple of us in a TINY hall.. it was an npc clan so the more craftables you donated the better your rank would be.. the richest members could add members.. i guess the forsaken became a PC clan without much trouble and showed nexon npc ran clans are a bad idea, even though tribes came out eventually,,

Who was Aroha? I dont recall him at all, Princecharm was one of the better legends rogues of all time. I had the most trouble with 1 on 1 duels with him. Id say he beat me 15% of the time which was insane for anybody to beat me that much.

That event was for the top rogues of all, no restrictions. A legends rogue wouldn't have lasted long heh

Xyphon ended up winning it. Grand prize was only a million coins but that was a decent amount back then... think I have a screen shot of me exchanging Xyphon a 1mil check at the end of it in the spy circle (don't think checks even exist anymore).

I beat ShinI when I was il san and he was several times my status and almost beat Chongun as well on InTersTaTe (widdled him down to black and he healed out once). I used a few tricks for cornering myself with sleep traps and dart random dart traps under them and LS / Assassinating them over and over in black, attacking them again and again and racing back behind my traps that I could dart trap out of without them touching me. Chongun was smart enough to catch on after a dozen or so attacks, ShinI not so much so. Chongun was InTersTaTe's original spy guide (my second spy).

Xyphon was a fair amount below some of those rogues in status but he ended up making up for the difference in skill and managed to come out ahead of everyone -shrugs-

I was going to but then I realized when you uninstall the client, you must delete the screenshot folder as well. Sucks, but oh well.

Maybe you can still recover them? heh

I had a bit of trouble recovering some of my older drives. Had a 2.5 inch IDE drive from about 13-14 years ago I wanted to recover. Bought a UNIDOCK3U device ( http://ca.startech.com/HDD/Docking/~UNIDOCK3U ) that was supposed to do 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch IDE and SATA drives... turns out the cable adapter that converted 2.5 inch IDE to 3.5 inch IDE pinout was flawed (of course most people who ran into this woulda just gave up and thought the drive was dead haha, first their support heard of it they are making a new cable as per my input). It turned out it was missing the 5 volts to the logic board (pin 41 :: http://pc-level.com/2012/02/44-pin-parallel-ata-ide-pinout/ ) that is required to wake it up which is common with some of the older 2.5 inch IDE drives (of course it had the 5 volts to the motor that is required to make the drive spin but it wouldn't spin without the logic board). So yeah, went ahead and spliced the 5volts to the motor and solid wired it to the logic board and boom it jazzed up.

Some of the other older IDE drives are a pain too when basic components on the PCB fail. But these older boards are pretty darn easy to solder by hand given how big the components and etchings are heh. Usually it is just a FET ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Field-effect_transistor ) or some other such simple jazz to the micro controllers or motor phase controllers or whatevea that are crapped out, pretty simple stuff ain't rocket science (not that rocket science is). Just take an oscilloscope and/or multimeter to the circuit board's probe points or pins to the integrated circuits and look up the parts and usually it is a matter of power leading to them if it is the right amount, look up the part numbers see if it is right and see what is affect it down the line... hobbyist stuff really--ain't like a clean room for platter head handlin.

That is hardware wise, the software stuff is even easier if it ain't shredded heh. I'm sure if you understand how to play nexus you can figure this out with your best friend google and your giant brain back up @.o

I have a 2.5 inch laptop hard drive that's been dead for three years and has some important [Content removed] in it.

Help me fix it plx.

#1. Get a hard drive to USB (USB 3.0 if can) docking station (make sure it does 2.5 inch IDE obviusly)--prob about 50-100$) or 44pin 2.5 inch IDE to 3.5 inch IDE 40 pin cable adapter--prob about 5$.

#2. Plug in and see if drive spins. I'm assuming it doesn't since you said it is "dead"

#3. If drive doesn't spin check that there are two red wires going to the 2.5 inch (most pins are data but there will be a few for power, you'll have the black for ground and the red for DC input). If there is only one red wire leading into it, check the pinout diagram in my previous post, chances are it is the 5 volts to motor. The logic board power input will be the pin above that one. Splice the red wire and add a solid wire (not twisted) to it, wrap it with electricians tape or whatever... then jam the solid spliced end in the correct pin above the other red wire when it is plugged into the device (adapter should hold solid wire relatively firmly against pin, but careful not to bump it if connection is loose cause could corrupt data if lose logic board power suddenly).

#4. Drive still won't spin or adapter already had proper power supplies. Well you have to evaluate the electronics circuit board AND OR the mechanics inside the drive. You kind of need a clean room and special tool sets etc to do the inside of the drive, so first lets determine if anything is even wrong with the circuit board. You can check the board with a multimeter prob the easiest. Turn the multimeter to volts setting stick the black end on the ground of power ground leading into drive, then stick red end next to end motor test points to see if motor is even getting power. Prob motor phase test points and multimeter will give you average from those points.

#5. If motor is getting proper power at the end of the line on the circuit board then it is probably a problem after that point (not always but most likely). Motor may just be seized can try upping the power to it a tiny bit to see if it goes, if not can try spinning it like a Frisbee (people say this jazz I've read it, never had it work or may even damage drive I dunno but might as well try lol).

#6. If motor isn't getting proper power or want to test more, trace back the part numbers on the integrated circuit boards (IC's, they are the little black squares pretty much on the circuit board). Look up their part numbers and pinouts and check their voltage in pins and check each one to make sure they are all getting proper power. If one of them isn't then trace the line to it and see if there is a basic component controlling power to it that is the point of failure.

#7. There are lots of logic components that will decide things but all they really decide is to provide power or not to a path, so you can pretty much just get by with a multimeter to pin point what is going on more or less and to hack around the pathway depending or replace a part depending. The other option is to buy a logic board exactly the same as your hard drive and replace it that way if it is just the board.

My general approach to debugging an unknown point of failure is to--all sides being equal--split it in half. Then I know which side it is on until I isolate its exactly whereabouts. Binary spanning treeish heh
