Going to echo the whole "make getting higher marks more accessible" statement by saying literally no other successful game has a time gate of a [Content removed]ing year just to get into content other people are in.

Can you [Content removed]ing imagine having to wait to play an expansion in any other game until your account is as old as the game was when that expansion was introduced?

Seriously, they're doing bull[Content removed] $60 cash grabs when the game has so many mechanical issues, [Content removed]ty people in power, archaic grade school rules and broken classes.

Let new players catch up? Call me biased, but that is part of the problem with this game. Everybody races to Sam/Sa, leaving anything under a wasteland, especially for those who are newer to the game (as few and far between as they are). Everybody is so into leeching that it is next to near impossible to find actual hunts for lower levels for the most part. If the leeching aspect was actually removed prior, then we would have a bit more diverse hunting range for people. It one (of many) reasons why people dont stay in the game for long.

As for the name change issue in itself, while it is completely idiotic on the consumer end, it is actually a good business move. People will pay it, and the work required is minimal. Beside it isnt like you can use (or be allowed) every combination there is.

No one wants to wade through the [Content removed]ty boring parts where no one is actively playing when there's new content the end game player base is currently playing.

No other successful game time gates people into being forced to be weaker for a year or longer, while having that gate force you to watch every word you say, be it public or private, because one slip up can completely trash your character.

Imagine if WoW or FFXIV created an expansion but only let those who played before it existed be able to log into it for at least a year. The amount of people buying that expansion would tank.

NTK has so much potential but it's completely drown out by boring, unimaginative and hell, downright stupid people in it's upper tiers of game management (archons) and the business leaders themselves.

I agree that leeching is rampant; that is part of a bigger problem -- hunting is largely boring and tedious. No challenging caves, every single AI is the same for the most part (except woodlands...which... why would anyone ever hunt there if it isn't worth the experience?)

I do take issue with anyone ever saying that time trials are put in place so "I can experience other aspects of the game". It is no one else's business how I decide to spend my time on Nexus. If I want to hunt and get buff quickly, I should be able to because I chose to dedicate my time to that than to something else. I'm very aware of everything Nexus has to offer -- what if I want to create a new character? How come it's fair that I still have to wait that long to get Sam or Sa san? Forgive me, but this isn't 2000 anymore. Through even legitimate hunting, it can just take a matter of weeks (for the more casual player; days for the more hardcore) to obtain Sam stats. It's incredibly stupid and outdated that anyone has to just twiddle their thumbs and wait to get the mark when they've achieved the stats.

I'd disagree, if only because old content can still be playable if updated to be muuuuch more easy to get through and more rewarding. Kind of like what Blizzard did with older vanilla WoW dungeons when Cataclysm appeared. But, knowing Kru... tongue.gif

I sensed that they didn't care long, long ago. Which was when I finally admitted to myself the game I knew was no more. sad.gif

Tuning your game's mechanics is something even failing MMORPGs try to do. That Nexus doesn't even now is ... showing.

Also the mindset of gameplay has changed over the last decades. This seems to be a variant of the "hardcore vs. casual" mindset where mind-numbing slogging gameplay is more hardcore and should be reserved for the more hardcore players. That isn't going to fly now. No one has that kind of time, or energy.

If they want this game to be fun, and actually pull in genuine new players that dont involve buying an existing buff character, Kru needs to stop being stuck in the 90s.

And I'm not talking about visuals.

And at times feels like they're stuck in DPRK.

Similar to what everyone above said, a new player should be able to play upper level content within 3-4 months of picking up the game, less if they have help or are particularly dedicated to it. Sadly, instead of having an end-game, the game has a grinding aspect which is difficult to balance between new player needs and old player's being salty after someone catching up super easily.

I don't see the point in even discussing "how to bring new players in". It's not gonna happen, this game is significantly worse from a design aspect than most college game design projects or steam greenlight stuff. I mean, the game never evolved after 1998. Who the hell wants to play a poorly balanced, grind fest, where some people have a 15 year head start on you? On top of that it's not like it's rewarding getting to the top of the game either, because everyone who has ever done it ends up quitting because... there's nothing to do once you're there besides relish in the fact that you have all these stats.
